2026 John O’Groats to Lands End
Our drive from John o'Groats to Land's End took Hannah and me the length of Great Britain, from the northeastern tip of the Scottish mainland to the westernmost point of England. We started by heading north up the western side of the country, through the Midlands, Lancashire and Cumbria, across the border near Carlisle and on through Glasgow and Glen Coe into the Highlands, with a detour out to Skye.
From there we followed the North Coast 500 up the west coast through Wester Ross and Assynt to Durness, then east along the top of Scotland to John o'Groats. We had wonderful clear weather across the northern reaches of the route, which showed off the sea lochs, mountains and empty beaches of Sutherland and Caithness at their best.
Turning south, we came down the east coast of Caithness and Sutherland to Inverness, through the edge of the Cairngorms and Perthshire to Edinburgh, and along the Northumberland coast past Newcastle into Yorkshire and the coast around the North York Moors. From Yorkshire we drove back down through the Midlands to the West Country and on through Devon and Cornwall to finish at Land's End.
