Oman loop (2012)

In 2012 I was preparing for upcoming work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Intercultural issues were likely to play a major role in my work and this was to be my first deep exposure to Arabic culture.

This tour around Oman was focussed on engaging people from different walks of life as a form of practical preparation for my role, to build on a more academic foundation.

Omanis were extremely hospitable, I pondered whether the Sultanate’s presence on the Indian Ocean trade routes perhaps contributes to a culture somewhat different to its neighbours on the Arabian Peninsula.

As I wasn’t sure what to expect from rural roads I chose a Toyota Prado for this drive.
