Newfoundland and The Maritimes
Visiting Newfoundland and the Maritimes in the summer was like stepping into a world where natural beauty, rich culture, and deep traditions come together in perfect harmony. The trip was an unforgettable journey through some of Canada’s most storied and picturesque regions.
Our Newfoundland itinerary
We were blessed with excellent weather for most of the trip, with sunny skies illuminating rugged coastlines, colourful fishing villages, and rolling green landscapes. On the occasional dramatic days of fog and drizzle, the region’s charm only deepened. At night, the mournful call of foghorns drifted through the mist, adding an atmospheric touch that felt timeless and otherworldly.
Even better was being joined by Han’s parents who toured Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island with us.
Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick
The seafood, as expected, was exceptional. From fresh cod to buttery lobster and scallops, every meal celebrated the bounty of the Atlantic. We also took time to learn about the fishing industry, gaining insight into the hard work and traditions that have sustained these coastal communities for generations. It gave us a deeper appreciation for the resilience and ingenuity of the people who call these shores home.
What stood out most, however, was the warmth of the culture. Everywhere we went, we were greeted with friendliness and hospitality. Traditional music, whether heard in lively pubs or during local festivals, filled the air with fiddle tunes and stories of the sea. The music, like the people, had a way of drawing us in and making us feel connected.
Newfoundland and the Maritimes left an indelible mark on us - a place of breathtaking landscapes, rich heritage, and a way of life that celebrates community and the sea. It was, without question, a summer adventure to treasure forever.
Enjoyed many a rest with Han’s parents on the very comfortable Adirondack chairs which are prevalent across the region.
