The ultimate Canadian road trip

Our Trans-Canada journey, spanning nearly 12,000 kilometres from the Arctic Ocean in the Northwest Territories to the Atlantic Coast in Newfoundland, followed the world’s second-longest national highway. Driving the entire length from west to east in our Ineos Grenadier ‘Iggy’ was the ultimate Canadian road trip - a journey through the diverse landscapes, cultures, and history of this vast country.

Starting in Dawson City, we wound through the majestic Yukon, where endless vistas and roaring rivers stole our breath. The highway then carried us into the rolling prairies of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, a sea of golden fields under endless skies. It was a humbling reminder of the agricultural heart that sustains much of Canada.

As we crossed into Ontario, the landscape transformed again. We hugged the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior at Thunder Bay, the world’s largest freshwater lake, before winding through the forested Canadian Shield. Passing into Quebec, we were immersed in the French-speaking culture and historic charm of cities like Montreal and Quebec City, blending old-world elegance with modern vitality.

The epic Trans-Labrador Highway led us to the ferry for Newfoundland, where we concluded our journey in St. John’s, the easternmost point of the highway and a fitting end to our coast-to-coast adventure.

The Trans-Canada Highway isn’t just a road trip - it’s a cross-section of Canada’s identity, linking its natural beauty, diverse communities, and shared history. It was more than a drive; it was an unforgettable survey of the nation’s soul.
